My Favorite Hobbies!
For any writer, when someone asks you what you like to do, you probably immediately say, “Write!” Which, of course, is the write answer (catch the pun?).
But no matter how much we love to write, there still have to be other things. Other hobbies. When I was younger, I used to get the balance speech from my mom. “Do something different. Go outside. Ride your bike. Do something, anything, besides writing!”
So therefore, just to prove to the world and show I’ve learned my “balance” lesson quite well, let me share with you a list of my all-time favorite hobbies:
- Writing
- Acrylic painting
- Photography
- Dressing up in vintage or historical clothing (come on over and see, by the way)
- Watching 1940s to 1950s movies
- Taking walks (more specifically walking in the rain…but hey, you can’t have thunderstorms every day, you know)
- Reading
- Playing instruments
- Listening to my old records
- Daydreaming (and night dreaming too…because my dreams are just so doggone interesting sometimes)
- Shopping and collecting antiques
- Making music videos
- Eating popcorn, drinking milk, and watching “Gunsmoke” (yes, it’s a hobby, okay?)
- Reading out loud to my little sister, even though I fear she may be outgrowing it
- Playing with little kids and participating in their nonsense
- Sitting on the back porch in a rocking chair
- And…well, I can’t really think of anything else
What about you? What are your favorite hobbies? Do we have any in common?
